FREE Santa Card from Tiny Prints

Tiny Prints is offering your choice of the above cards for FREE. Head over to Tiny Prints and select either Checking it Twice or Santa's Scroll. Personalize your card and then use the code SANTA11 when you check out. If you choose to have the card sent to you, it will ship for free or you can pay $0.44 to have it sent to someone else.

I bought the Santa's Scroll card last year during another free card promotion and it is really cute. I decided to put it away until my son is old enough to recognize his name (hopefully this coming Christmas). I think I'll order another with my nephew's name.

$1 off coupon for Starbucks Bistro Box

Go here to print a coupon for $1 off a Bistro Box at Starbucks. These are a new lunch time offering from Starbucks and look really yummy. There are eight different boxes, including the Chipotle Chicken Wrap Bistro Box and the Sesame Noodle Bistro Box.

Have you tried these yet? Which one should I try with my coupon?

    Dannon Oikos Coupon Giveaway

Prior to my recent introduction to Dannon Oikos, I never understood the appeal of greek yogurt. I had tried many diffierent brands but they were either too sweet, too tart, too thick, etc. Yep, I'm the Goldilocks of greek yogurt.

Then I met Dannon Oikos at the BlogHer conference and fell deeply, deeply in love. This stuff is AMAZING. Seriously, the most delicious yogurt I have ever had (greek or otherwise). It comes in a ton of different flavors, including my all-time favorite yogurt flavor Black Cherry. It is non-fat and packed with protein (and only 3 Weight Watchers Points Plus).

The kind people at Dannon Oikos were nice enough to give me some coupons to share with you all. Two readers will each win five (5) $1/2 Dannon Oikos coupons. These coupons expire 9/30/2011.

    To enter this giveaway:

MANDATORY: Leave a comment letting me know what Dannon Oikos flavor is your favorite or which you would like to try. Go here to check out all the flavors.

    Additonal Entries:

Like Coupon Newbie Blog over on Facebook. Come back and leave a comment letting me know (1 entry).

This giveaway will end at midnight on Friday (8/26) so enter NOW. Please make sure to include an e-mail address so I can contact you if you are one of the winners.

Disclaimer: I was provided with the coupons for this giveaway, but no other compensation for saying nice things about Dannon Oikos. But I'd gladly accept a lifetime supply of Black Cherry yogurt.

    Coupon Confessions

Confession #1: I let $4 in +UP Rewards expire this weekend without using them.

Confession #2: I have not used my Albertson's Twice the Value coupons the last three times we have gotten them.

So why am I confessing this to you? So that you know that I know that couponing is hard work. Perfection (in all aspects of life) is over-rated and unattainable. That is true for perfection in couponing as well. The goal should never be to get every deal out there. Your goal should be to work couponing into your regular life without letting it take over.

I could have run to Rite-Aid on Saturday to use my +UP Rewards. But I was enjoying a relaxing day at home (one of the few we have had this summer) and that was worth more than $4. I could have gone to Albertson's the past couple weeks, but there was nothing I absolutely needed. It wasn't worth my time and money to make an extra stop just for a good deal.

So now it is your turn...what are your couponing confessions? Let's hear them!

The Daily Double (8/16): Organic Produce and Snacks

I love todays' deal from Ideal Network. For $7 you will get a $15 voucher for produce from Full Circle Farms. Your voucher can be redeemed at 13 local farmer's markets. I have often seen deals for organic produce delivery, but this is the first time I have seem a voucher for the farmer's market. What a great opportunity to visit your local market and pick out your own fresh, organic produce.

Check out this deal over at Ideal Network. Make sure to review the list of participating farmer's markets. Although Full Circle has a stand at my local market, that market is not included in this deal. But I'm thinking this would be a good reason to check out a different farmer's market.

This isn't a daily deal, but it's worth a mention because these are awesome. Amazon has these organic Mashups from Revolution Foods on sale through September 15th. Use Subscribe and Save and the coupon code REVFOO23 to save 30%!. The berry flavor will be $17.51 for 24 or $0.73 each.

The Daily Double (Dyson & Custom Handbags)

Todays deals are a bit random, but they both jumped out at me as things worth sharing.

Sears has the Dyson DC17 All Floors Upright Vacuum for $299. I know $299 is a lot of money, but this vacuum retails for $449 (current price on Amazon). I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my Dyson. When I first got my Dyson vacuum, I ran my old vacuum and then cleaned the same area with the Dyson. You would not believe how much extra dirt the Dyson picked up. If you are in the market for a new vacuum, I highly recommend taking a closer look at this deal.

If this deal is for you, go through Ebates to earn 4% cash back bring the price down to $287!

Thanks, Coupon Connections for the heads up on this deal.

I am a sucker for a cute bag and with today's deal on Bitsy Bug, you will spend $20 to get a $50 credit to design your own through Elemental Threads. I am not familiar with this company, but I absolutely love this idea. They have 15 different styles of bags to choose from and a ton of fabrics, hardware, and lining to customize your bag.

Even cooler, they offer a Repurposing service. They will repurpose your old t-shirts, baby blankets, or other items of clothing into a handbag. I love that idea.

Head over to Bitsy Bug to check out this deal.

Received $4 Catalina (Dreyer's) and $5 Catalina (General Mills)

    Grand Total = $9.84

Thanks to Coupon Connections for the tip on the Dreyer's Ice Cream catalina. The ad states that you will receive a $4 catalina when you spend $12 on participating products. But the catalina is generating based on the shelf price, not the sale price.

You can make this deal even sweeter by waiting for the Twice the Value coupons we will be getting this Sunday, but I needed the cake and ice cream for my son's birthday party on Saturday.

Want to try a new product for FREE?

GONE! Congrats to Sarah, Rachel, The Van Tassel's and Tina (I came up with one extra coupon)! Please e-mail me at couponnewbieblog @ gmail . com with your full name and mailing address.

If you have been following me over on Facebook or Twitter, you know that I spent the last weekend at the BlogHer conference in San Diego. I had a great time meeting other bloggers, learning about blogging, and meeting with brand representatives. I came home with an entire bag FULL of goodies for upcoming giveaways.

One of the products I had the chance to demo was the new Scrubbing Bubbles One Step Toilet Bowl Cleaner.

I absolutely hate cleaning the toilet, so I was intrigued by this product. The small canister sits next to the toilet and twice a day you step on it to release the cleaner into the toilet bowl. Then flush and you are done. Sounds good to me!

The nice people at Scrubbing Bubbles were kind enough to give me three coupons for readers to try this product for FREE. The coupons expire 8/31/2011 and are good for up to $10.99.

I'll send a coupon to the first three people to comment on this post. So let me know if you are interested in giving this a try.

    Donation #3

I have not been doing has much couponing for charity in recent months so it has taken a while for my donation bin to get full. But it was finally filled to the brim, so it was time for a trip to The ShareHouse.

The ShareHouse helps families moving from homelessness to permananet housing. Families come to The Sharehouse to "shop" for everything you need to start a household. The Sharehouse provides furniture, kitchen supplies, cleaning supplies, and hygiene products free of charge to these families.  In addition to accepting donations of household items, The Sharehouse is also in need of financial donations to support their mission. Please visit their website for more information on their work and to make a donation.

The total value of my donation was over $250. And I got it all for FREE. I love using coupon to benefit others. What ways have you found to use your couponing skills to help others?

Produce Stand vs. Grocery Store (Summer Edition)

Back in January, I did a comparison of the prices at my local produce stand versus the grocery store. I found that I saved 30% on my produce by shopping at the produce stand.

With so much local produce in season, I was interested to see what the comparison would look like during the summer months. I purchased the following produce on July 27th at my local produce stand (MacPherson's on Beacon Hill, if you are in the Seattle area) and checked the prices the following day at Fred Meyer.

I BoughtPrice at Produce StandPrice at Fred Meyer
    Red Lettuce 1 head$0.69/each$1.29/each
    Green Lettuce1 head $0.69/each$1.29/each
    Broccoli2.5 lb$0.99/lb$0.98/lb
    Vine Tomatoes1.92/lb$1.29/lb$1.79/lb
    Limes2$0.16/each$0.33/each
    Garlic.2 lb$0.60/each$0.33/each
    Rainier Cherries2.82 lb$1.99/lb$3.88/lb
    Nectarines1.89 lb$1.29/lb$1.99/lb
    Green Onions3$0.39/each$0.50/each
    Pasilla Peppers1.02/lb$0.99/lb$1.99/lb
    Yellow Onion1.5 lb$0.39/lb$0.59/lb
    Plums1.29 lb$0.99/lb$0.98/lb
    Zucchini1.64 lb$0.59/lb$0.99/lb
    Cucumbers2$0.39/each$0.79/each
    Watermelon15.46 lb$0.29/lb ($4.48)$6.98/each
    Pink Lady Apples2.22 lb$0.79/lb$1.79/lb
    Basil 1 bunch$0.99/each$1.99/each
    Arugula1 box$0.79/each$4.99/each

    Produce Stand = $29.12
    Fred Meyer = $51.31

I saved 44% by shopping at the produce stand.

Two of the biggest savings were on products considered "past their prime", but that there was really nothing wrong with. The produce stand had Rainier cherries (the ZOMG best cherries) for $2.99 or "Yesterdays" Rainier cherries for $1.99. I went with "Yesterdays" and found them to be perfectly fine. The arugula was the O Organics brand from Safeway. It was still several days from expiration and had no wilting or yucky bits. And I was able to get it for $0.79 versus $4.99. I used it to make this Watermelon, Arugula and Feta salad for a BBQ and it was to die for.

Do you have a local produce stand that you visit?
